Pre-cleanse
The very best thing that you can do prior to your arrival, ideally for a minimum of 1-3 weeks, is to undertake a “pre-cleanse”. The length of this pre-cleansing period is determined by the length of the cleansing program you propose to do. The longer we cleanse, the longer we pre-cleanse. It is also important to know that a longer and more effective pre-cleanse leads to a deeper and more profound cleanse.

Diet
The most important element of this period is your diet. The best case scenario is that you eat only raw, “live” foods; fresh uncooked fruits and vegetables, perhaps with a few nuts, or tofu (i.e. salads with simple dressings, fruit salad, etc…).
We realise that this kind of a switch in diet may be too radical of a change for you to be comfortable with. We understand!
Drinking a minimum of 3 to 4 litres of good quality pure filtered water each day is a powerful way to begin the flushing process in the body. Don’t delay!
If you are to unable to undergo and/orsustain the ideal diet, we ask that you attempt to, as much as is possible, eliminate the intake of the coarser, denser varieties of food. This includes any kind of meat (including fish), dairy, eggs, bread, sugar, caffeinated tea and coffee, alcohol, etc… All of these “foods” should be completely avoided.
Although not ideal, foods such as whole grains, or beans, peas and lentils (legumes), etc may be consumed as needed. Often if our bodies are too used to “dense” foods, a rapid switch to “light” foods proves too difficult. In this case, please supplement your diet with the aforementioned, but only in moderation; no more than you feel you need.
Keep in mind the importance of proper “food combining”. Essentially, this is the art and science of how to mix, and how not to mix, different foods together.

Primary rules
You will certainly learn more about this concept while you are here. For now, there are two primary rules to abide by as you prepare for your upcoming cleanse.
- 1) Do not mix “starch” foods with “protein” foods. Starches include such things as wheat, rice, corn, potatoes, bread, pasta, cakes and other baked goods. Proteins are meat, fish, eggs, dairy, tofu, certain nuts and other similar foods.
- 2) Fruit should be eaten alone. However, on and empty stomach, fruit digests very quickly, in 20-40 minutes. You may, therefore, eat fruit shortly before another food type.
Following this dietary plan by itself, even with no other changes, will enhance the way you feel greatly and you will be doing exactly as you should to properly prepare for your cleanse.

Pre-cleanse interview If, at your time of arrival, you have been unable to purify your diet, we will make suitable recommendations during your Pre-Cleanse Interview. This usually entails at least a day (24 to 36 hours) of eating raw foods only, with a possible boost of supplements that will help to detoxify you relatively quickly.
We here at the Colon Cleanse & Detox Retreat wish you the highest degree of health, happiness, and well-being. We understand that, ultimately, the only source that can provide these things to you is YOU. We are simply here to assist the process and to provide and environment that can allow the transformations to occur-the rest is your responsibility while we will do everything in our power to ensure your health, safety and comfort.
